14 Stations of the Cross

Written by: Galerie Zuger Santa Fe

I went to the Prayer Garden of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross at the St. Francis Cathedral this morning and it is quite incredible. Each station has a lifesize bronze sculpture installed in its own contemplative space on a winding path. It is definitely a must see for any Gib Singleton fan. I have attached just a small preview of the garden for you to see. Next - I will go to Chimayo to see the installation of the Fourteen Stations at the El Santuario de Chimayo. It is quite moving to see these installations during the time of year that celebrates Christ's birth.

The Stations of the Cross depict the 14 basic events from the last hours of Christ's life. Gib Singleton's Fourteen Stations is his own interpretation "My greatest dream has been to build the Stations of the Cross since I was 16 years old...This is what you live for; the one thing that sort of makes sense of everything and I think this is the one thing for me."
